Last Night I Met Jesus

Protect Our Children Flower bedI have never met Jesus.

Last night, I met a man badly shamed in his childhood. He sat in His humble chair.  He honored me as I washed His feet there.   I met Jesus last night.

I have never hugged Jesus.

Last night, I hugged a full grown man.  Wounds of shame from long long ago still fresh on his mind.  He sat in His well-worn chair.  He graced me with the chance to wash His feet there.  I hugged Jesus last night.

I have never seen Jesus.

Last night, I saw a woman with deep trauma from her youth.   She sat in Her nondescript chair.  She allowed me to gently wash Her feet there.  I saw Jesus last night.

I have never been hugged by Jesus.

Last night, a woman hugged me and violently sobbed as she did.  She sat in Her old lawn chair.  She gave me the honor to wash Her feet there.  Last night, Jesus hugged me very tight.

Last night has passed.  Such a sweet peaceful night.  Is Jesus real?  Well….to this much I CAN attest.  I have met Him.  I have hugged Him.  I have seen Her.  She hugged me tight as She sobbed and sobbed and sobbed.

Today, I mourn that I can’t meet LeeAnn.  I can’t hug LeeAnn.  Assualted by her bishop at 14, the shame was too great.  Her life was taken by her own hand.  Oh…that She could sit in Her old lawn chair.  Oh…that I could tenderly wash Her feet there.

Today, I mourn that I can’t see Sam.  I can’t be tightly hugged by this innocent young man.  Shamed and bullied he took is own life when merely 14.  Oh…that He could sit in His humble chair.  What an honor it would be to wash His feet there.

  2. This new post… A new experience of the greatest love shown to those hurting so badly.. and to those whom hurt so badly, they could no longer carry on…has humbled me to tears. “I’m Trying to be like Jesus, I’m following in His way. I’m trying to love as He did, in all that I do and say”. I’m convinced, my sister left the church, years ago, for this very reason. She still won’t talk with me about it. My heart aches for all who are suffering. I have forwarded many of these posts to my adult children, and pleaded with them to never allow my grandchildren, my precious gems, to be exposed to any interviews, at anytime, with any adult, in or out, of the church, without one of them joining. Thank you, Sam, for your tenacious work and service for the children.. Our children. Thanks to your family, for supporting such a valiant cause. May God bless and be with you.

  3. Please, bring back Jesus to His church!
You’ve impacted me and others around me, Sam, along with your guests whom you’ve helped like Jesus, helped for Jesus, as He instructed us and our leaders clearly enough to not ignore any longer. Are we ignoring Him and not honoring His words, warnings, instructions and commandments to us? Isn’t this plastered throughout our standard works? The shame and filth of the righteous weighed heavily on our minds after your shocking and touching event. These scriptures (out of sooo many) came to mind as I share this as applying to Every one of us Members, not just leaders:

    A REMIX from Mormon 6: 16-8 & Matt 23: 4-28 & 1 Nephi 16: 1-4:

O ye Pharisee ones, how could ye have departed from the ways of the Lord! O ye Pharisee ones, how could ye have rejected that Jesus, who stood with open arms to receive you!
Behold, if ye had not done this, ye would not have fallen. But behold, ye are fallen, and I mourn your loss.
    ………
For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, evenChrist; and all ye are brethren.
But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!

Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?

And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.

Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?

Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.

And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.

And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omittedthe weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.

Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.

Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

    ——————————————————————————-
And it came to pass that I said unto them that I knew that I had spoken hard things against the wicked, according to the truth; and the righteous have I justified, and testified that they should be lifted up at the last day; wherefore, the guilty taketh the truth to be hard, for it cutteth them to the very center.

And now my brethren, if ye were righteous and were willing to hearken to the truth, and give heed unto it, that ye might walk uprightly before God, then ye would not murmur because of the truth, and say: Thou speakest hard things against us.

  4. Oh my gosh. I can’t stop crying. This is a heart-wrenching beautiful post. You have met Jesus many times. You have hugged Him, He has mourned with those of us who mourn through you. He is in you and all of us. We will prevail. We will be Healed.

  5. From one of the least of these you served: To Sam, the Lionheart

    THE LION’S PRIDE

    I have never found Jesus
I have looked high and low
I heard he was a healer
I was told just where to go
    But I never found healing

    I have never met Jesus
But I’ve sat often in the road
Waiting for him to walk by
So I could reach and touch his robe
    But I never met Jesus

    I never talked to Jesus
But a man said come and speak
Raise your voices up to me
    If you’re wounded and weak
I took my place in line

    I have never found Jesus
But this year I heard a man
    Say across the airwaves
Come follow me! take a stand!
    To protect the children!

He stepped down from his stately chair
And said Come march with me!
I ran into the street that day
    To set the captives free
    Those children were me!

    I’ve never found Jesus
But marched with the man that day
And across the sea of people
He handed the Sacred Book my way
    To present to the Kings

    I never met the Kings
But knew they had the power
    To Protect the children
From Up in their high tower
    But they didn’t show

    They sent the corner pawn
    To collect our holy scroll
    They brought a little cart
    They could irreverently roll
Where to, we do not know

I handed over from my heart
    The tears of many children
I wanted doves to collect them
As I stared up at that building
Fly up in the sky little doves

I have never wept with Jesus
But the sun was in my eyes
    As the Royals threw crumbs
    Every wounded child cries
    The Lion wept there too

Their knights and bishops said amen
and mocked the people down below
    Many stories they’d never read
    And didn’t care to know
    Many stories yet to come

Last night I met the man again
He said come let me wash your feet
    In my little bucket
on the side of the street
And he washed my shame away

On the side of the road last night
I saw his tears as he held my hands in his
He looked deep into my eyes
    And said God DOES forgive
    Last night I found Jesus

    Jesus is love.
